Mounted butterfly specimen of a Sootywing (Pholisora catullus.) From the front, the small sized butterfly is shiny, warm brown on the forewing with small white spots towards the end. A lighter brown band is on the wingtip. The hindwing is is the same, but without any spots. The forewing is slightly wider than the hindwing. From the back, the butterfly is a muted pattern of the front. The butterfly is mounted in between two panes of glass and is displayed in a glass box with tape around the edges. A wooden base holds the specimen upright. The common name of the butterfly is identified in handwritten black ink on a sticker adhered to the bottom of case. It indicates that it is from Muncie, Indiana.
